Top 3 Places to Get Engaged

I will preface this with the fact that I have not been engaged three times; this blog post is just my way of bragging about the fact that I am finally engaged. It adds to how wonderful life feels right now. My excitement is so palpable that my fiancé is tired of hearing me say the word fiancé.

So without further ado, I am going to share what I believe are the best places to get engaged are. Note that I am biased toward the places where we took photos. Spoiler alert: they’re all in Iceland.

3. Under a Waterfall

So after the actual proposal, I was told that we needed a better, clearer picture. By this point, the sun was starting to clear away some of the rain clouds and it looked a little brighter outside. Lucky for us, there were a couple of waterfalls along our walking path, so we stopped at one and my sister convinced him that we should take a better picture here.

Beside the river that the waterfall feeds into is a man in red proposing to a girl in purple.
You can still see some of the raindrops on the camera lens, but it seems to add to the magic.

2. On Top of a Glacier

We both agreed that being able to hike around the glacier and drink directly from it was probably one of the coolest things we have ever done. The part that made it even better was that we got to do it together. If he hadn’t been so nervous and ready to get the proposal done, I wonder if he actually would’ve proposed on top of the glacier. It was so magical that it looked like Elsa’s castle could’ve been around the corner.

A man proposing to a girl who is kissing him while they both wear crampons standing on top of a Glacier.
It’s so sad the camera didn’t pick up all the hues of blue on the glacier.

1. In a Cave

It should come as no surprise that number one is the place where the actual engagement took place. I think my now-fiancé was so nervous that he wanted to get it done as soon as possible, but it was raining on this particular day, so it was a little hard to enjoy the outdoors. We were actually headed to a beach when we decided to stop at this place.

We were walking along the trail, and the rain was starting to come down more and more. There was a small stream flowing out of the cave, and if you were willing to walk through the stream, you were rewarded with a waterfall. This is where he decided to propose.

On top of a rock, in a cave, under a waterfall, is a very tall man proposing to a very tiny woman.
Of course I said yes. We wouldn’t be talking about this right now if I didn’t.

At the end of the day, the best place to get engaged is to the person you love, and who loves you. For me, that ended up being in Iceland, but I wouldn’t change a thing. Everything would’ve been perfect anywhere because I have the most amazing life partner.

Now, I’m planning on being more active here as I start to wrap up graduate school, and I would love to know what you want to see. Are you interested in my post-graduate life? Or is there an interest in seeing me share about wedding planning? The possibility also exists for me to travel blog, if you have specifics in mind? Please make sure to let me know in the comments below!
